Design and Specification
The Sony Xperia L is the follow up to 2012s Xperia U.
It has a precision engineered feature mix, making it a true successor to the latter.
Covering all the bases, compromising only on stuff that isn't essential to the user experience, while at the same time, retaining the attractive price tag.
It picks up exactly where the Xperia U left off and tries to fix only what needed fixing.
Powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, Adreno 305 GP with 1GB of RAM, The Sony Xperia L runs on Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich.
This mid-range level phone has a curved body design that’s a modern take on the Sony Ericsson Arc.
There's a 4.3 inch LCD of 480 x 854 resolution, bringing the pixel density to 228 ppi.
The Illumination effect LED is present at the sloped bottom edge.
The matte plastic back of the Sony Xperia L is removable and has a soft finish, which coupled with its round edges gives you a comfortable grip.
At 128.7 x 65 x 9.7 mm, the phone weighs 137g.
Camera and Multimedia
The Sony Xperia L comes equipped with an 8MP camera 8 megapixel camera that takes pictures at a maximum resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels with auto focus and a LED flash.
As expected, The camera offers all sorts of features, including face detection, smile shutter, geotagging, touch capture and HDR mode.
There's also Sony’s very own quick launch mode, which lets you select what the lockscreen camera shortcut does.
You can set it up to launch the camera in either still or movie mode, or you can set it to immediately take a photo/start capturing video.
The Sony Xperia L has quad-band 2G and up to quad-band 3G connectivity depending on your model. Mobile data speeds top 21 Mbps of HSDPA and 5.8Mbps HSUPA.
Local connectivity is covered by dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n with DLNA and Wi-Fi Direct, so you can easily share content from your phone on a DLNA TV or music player.
There's also Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP.
MicroUSB handles the charging and PC connectivity, and there's also USB On-the-go so you can attach external flash drives.
Media Remote can be installed on the Xperia L to turn your phone into a remote control for DLNA-capable BRAVIA TVs and Sony DVD/Blu-ray players too.
NFC is also on board the Xperia L.
The Xperia L also comes with Sony's Smart Connect app, which replaces the former LiveWare manager.
